Eco Housing

The houses on a new social housing development being built in Long Sutton will produce enough electricity to make the homes self sufficient.

New social housing being built in Long Sutton will produce all the electricity needed to run a home, with the possibility of producing enough power to sell some back to the national grid.

The houses are being built by the Lincolnshire Rural Housing Association and have been designed by Dr Jerry Harrall who has based the design for the development on the home he already occupies with his wife.

The ideas and features in the homes have all been tried and tested including being built behind an earth bank which helps to maintain a constant temperature without the need for heating.

Have Your Say

Should local councils do more to encourage the building of these homes in other areas?

absolutely.. thank goodness for some vision. Now it needs back up and encouragement. Remove the red tape for installation of home wind and solar power for instance.
