Look North: Waste Wars

Where does the rubbish you throw away eventually end up? Look North helps you to find out.

It's a topic that affects us all - Look North and the Bryant Family from Scunthorpe, who have been having trouble with their overflowing bin ever since the introduction of a twice monthly collection system in North Lincolnshire, help guide us through what happens to our waste and recycling.

Watch Look North every weekday evening between 6.30pm and 7pm on BBC 1. Keep an eye on this page as each report will appear here also.

Programme One: Recycling Advice

Reporter Simon Spark and the Bryant family meet recycling guru Penney Poyzer, from the BBC programme 'No Waste like Home. She has a rummage through their rubbish to see what more they could be doing.

Programme Two: The Collection

The Bryants and reporter Paul Murphy follow the contents of the family's bin on its journey to the waste disposal centre.

Programme Three: How They Do It In Holland

The Bryant family visit Holland to find out about recycling there.

Programme Four: Freecycling

Look North reporter Paul Murphy finds out more about 'Freecycling'.

Programme Five: Waste Incineration

On the Isle Of Man they have to incinerate their waste because of the amount of space landfill takes up.
