For the past two years The Great Loughborough Santa Fun Run has been taking place in Leicestershire, and this year £10,000 of the money raised will go to BBC Radio Leicester's Ruby Rainbow Appeal. Other local charities will also benefit, including LOROS and STEPS.
The race is six kilometres long and begins at the Loughborough University Running Track before moving into the town centre. The race is organised by the Rotary Club of Loughborough, with support from Loughborough University. Last year 700 Santas took part, but this year the Rotary Club are hoping that there will be over 1,000. Every runner will be given a free Santa suit to give the race a special festive theme and the circuit is mainly flat so it's suitable for all abilities. This year 30 teams will be taking part in the race as well, and entry costs £10 per person or £5 for children under 16. If you want to take part go to www.raceentry.co.uk or phone David Hollins on 0116 2290495 or Dick Howard on 01530 245373last updated: 29/11/07 You are in: Leicester > Local Radio > Ruby Appeal > The Great Loughborough Santa Fun Run |
