The BBC is not responsible for the content of external websites The All-Stars band has raised thousands of pounds towards the Ruby Rainbow appeal and the most recent gig at Hugglescote WMC, realised a further two thousand pounds for the charity. Another busy month lies ahead for band members Tim Wilkinson, Chris Highton, TW and Pete Hancock as they prepare for their next appearance at the Old Aylestone Social Club on 30 November with the Beatclub and the Dearly Departed. As a result of huge demand the gig is now SOLD OUT! More dates to come. Queniborough Gig ReviewI'm just glad I managed to get a ticket, after rave reviews from the Birstall and Thurmaston gigs, for another chance to see the All Stars Band. Tickets sold like hot cakes and again it was another sellout gig leaving many fans fustrated. The gig started with local bands Fusion and all girl band Undecided then punk band Pigwistle - there was something for everyone. ![]() It was getting hotter not just through the packed audience but supper was being served, the Spice of India restaurant served up various delicious dishes. The smell was a nice change from the old smoke filled halls that the All Star Band used to play. The music continued and was getting better and better. A blues band Swamp Southern warmed up the crowd and after two encores finally left the stage for the Tony Wadsworth and the All Star Band to start at 10.25pm. The dance floor was soon packed, the band had the audience in the palm of their hands. They could do no wrong playing a few Beatles songs - 'Eight Days A Week' and 'Can't Buy Me Love'. My friend Bob closed his eyes and said "It's like being in the Cavern in Liverpool", he doesn't get out much and the beer was starting to take affect. Tony got the audience to sing 'Chuck Berry My Ding a Ling', Elvis Presley would have been proud. The crowd had tears in their eyes and it wasn't the hot curry, it was Tony singing a solo version of 'Something' by the Beatles. Cries of more, more came from the back of the hall so the band came back for an oncore of Twist and Shout. A Mary Quant look a like started the dancing, but the TWITS members knew it was Julie Mayer, there was no room on the floor. The band was mobbed by fans outside as people wanted lifts home. What happens when the All Star Band visits your village? The pubs are half empty, off licences close early and the streets are deserted. Another great gig for £12.50 and all to a good cause. By Andy Corbett. TWITS President 2007 Thurmaston Gig ReviewHere's an appraisal from a couple of satisfied customers that were at the All-Stars gig @ Thurmaston on Friday 20 July 2007. I kept saying to myself £3 all that entertainment for £3. You couldn't have wrote that for Peter Kay, it was like going back in time. ![]() Chris "top ten" Highton on the Drums Dancers with no room to move, a group who wouldn't stop singing and only did when their drummer had a suspected heart attack, then they came back and stayed on until the early hours. If Roy Castle had been alive the raffle would have broke the record for the longest running event. A chap who lived in Thurmaston all his life and wearing a wig wanting to speak in an American accent and introduce Elvis. Elvis losing his bag full of teddy bears and having to give them out to the wonder of you instead of teddy bear. Julie showing us her tattoo and belly button. An auction for two items because the Terrys all Gold singers wanted to come back, Alf Garnett singing with the band. The 'Cod Father' chip shop giving away free sausages to entice people out of the Conservative club and into their shop. When's the next gig? Another brilliant night must be had! By Andy and Debs Mark missed out!I was too slow off the mark and only called yesterday for tickets for the All Stars gig next Saturday [at Queniborough]. He sold the last two tickets yesterday morning. That will teach me to act quicker next time.
