Taste to the test

By Stuart Hainsworth
Local restaurants are put to the taste test as the first Leicestershire and Rutland Restaurant Awards aim to eek out your favourite fillet and best brioche around.

The search is on for the best eateries in the area as part of new awards for local restaurants. The first Leicestershire and Rutland Restaurant Awards aim to discover the best places to enjoy a plate of passion.

From now until the awards are announced at Stapleford Park on 02 November, you can vote for your favourite restaurant via the awards' official website.

It aims to reward local restaurants for fine food and good practice.

There are awards for:

  • Best Asian Restaurant
  • Best Service
  • Best Newcomer
  • Best Fine Dining Restaurant
  • Best Value for Money
  • Best Drinks/Wine List
  • Best Local Produce Menu
  • Best Gastro Pub
  • Best Business Lunch

All votes will be collated at the end of September with some categories passed to independent expert judging panels for the final decision, apart from Best Value for Money, which will be left to the public.

Find out lots more about the awards, how to take part and how to influence who wins the gongs by clicking on the official website link to the right of this page.

You can also register a view in our just-for-fun vote as to what is most important to you when you visit a restaurant. Do you go on menu, taste, price or atmosphere when you decide where to eat?
