Search starts for seven man-made wonders

By Jessica Rose
The ancient Guildhall and the picturesque Foxton Locks are just two of Leicestershire's best loved attractions which were shaped or created by people. Now the BBC is looking for man-made wonders like these for a new TV series.

The BBC TV programme Seven Man Made Wonders will feature a selection of your favourite attractions. The nominations can range from ancient monuments and industrial marvels, such as bridges and canals, to medieval buildings and Victorian wonders. The only criteria is that the wonders must have been built or at least significantly shaped by people. But remember there's a cut-off point of 1900, so please don't vote for wonders from the 20th or 21st Centuries.

To get you thinking, we have chosen seven man-made wonders in Leicestershire and Rutland. Click on the links on the top right hand side of this page to find out more about them:

1. Roman Jewry Wall, Leicester
2. Great Central Railway, Loughborough
3. Leicester Castle
4. The Guildhall, Leicester
5. Old John, Bradgate Park, Leicester
6. Foxton Locks
7. Moira Furnace, Leicestershire
