Q: What does this album mean/represent to you (and the band)? A: The album represents an opportunity to raise the band's profile and at the same time hopefully attract a new younger audience to the unique fun style of Showaddywaddy. Q: Do you still live in Leicestershire? A: I recently moved back to Leicestershire after spending almost 21 years in Northants. Q: What new bands do you admire? A: There are some amazing bands that have emerged over the last few years i.e. Coldplay, Ash, Supergrass, Kasabian and Snow Patrol. At the moment the artists I listen most to are Green Day, Tom McRae and Rufus Wainwright. Q: What was significant about going back to RainStudios (Queniborough)? Leicester? A: The main reason for going back to Rain Studios is that it is the best equipped studio in our locality, and we've always had a soft spot for the place! Q: Are you touring in the Midlands? A: We are touring the UK; there are only 7 more gigs on the tour, 2 being in the Midlands Nov 24th at The Assembly Rooms in Derby & Nov 27th at Alexander Theatre in Birmingham. Q: What do you like about touring, are you planning anything for next year? A: We probably won't be touring again for around 2 years. It is enjoyable in that you get into a real groove on stage, and have a lot of fun with the whole touring company. The down side is the constant traffic problems which make the travelling somewhat gruelling! Q: What have been the best moments in your career? And why? A: Wow! There have been so many highs (and a few lows!) The highlight would be finding that we had the Christmas No 1 album an hour prior to running out on stage at our hometown gig The De Montfort Hall in Leicester - "What a night" Q: Where is your favourite place? And why? A: My favourite City is Florence in Italy, the architecture is stunning (much of it by Michelangelo) and it is so romantic at night dining by the river Arno! Q: What is the song that means most to you and the band, on your album? A: I've always loved "I Wonder Why" I think it is a great pop record, and the band was on top form when we recorded it. I remember when I was mixing it and getting an amazing buzz that said it would be a great success! Q: Any funny tales you have encountered whilst recording, touring so far this year? A: The funniest moment on this tour was up in Dundee. The band of musicians backing the other artists are called Rocking Horse, we have been making horse jokes all tour and at Dundee we filled their dressing room with hay (from a local pet shop) the reaction when they arrived was priceless! Q: Tell me about the musical you are in? What are your hopes for this? A: The musical was a project we started 3 years ago. It was only put together for 1 tour which spanned most of 2002. It was great fun and showed another side of the band. Perhaps we'll attempt something along similar lines in the future. Q: Are you considering working with any other bands/people/projects? A: The next 18 months will be spent doing regular corporate functions and overseas work and rehearsing a new show. There are no major projects in the pipeline (yet!) |
