Rambert Dance Company is Britain's flagship contemporary dance company. Under the artistic direction of Mark Baldwin it tours throughout the UK and overseas, producing a constant stream of new work. Established in 1926 by Polish dance teacher, Marie Rambert, the company has built up a fine reputation for innovation and high-powered performances. Rambert has a history of collaborating with composers, designers and visual artists. It also believes in the power of live music to enrich its work - most notably with its Associate Orchestra, London Musici. ![]() Eternal Light For its latest work, Eternal Light, with dance commissioned by Sadler's Wells and music commissioned by London Musici, Mark Baldwin collaborates with composer Howard Goodall, designer Michael Howells and milliner Stephen Jones to create his second major new work for the Company. Composer Howard Goodall has received numerous international awards for his musicals, choral music and TV & film scores. He is probably best known for his many, much-loved TV themes including Red Dwarf, Mr Bean, Blackadder, The Vicar of Dibley and QI. Designer Michael Howells has created film sets for films such as 'Shackleton', 'Emma' and 'Bright Young Things', as well as editorial work for Vogue and Vanity Fair, and fashion shows for Alexander McQueen, Christian Lacroix and John Galliano. Eternal Light is one of Rambert Dance Company's most ambitious collaborations in recent years, set to an elegiac and evocative score. It will be sung live by Leeds University Liturgical Choir, accompanied by London Musici.
