Yeadon Tarn - an artistic inspiration?

Aireborough Illustrated.....by you

As part of Celebrate Leeds 2007 local artist Anna-Marie Milton is asking people to create a picture of their favourite place or building in Aireborough.

The idea is to involve the whole community helping to celebrate this particular area of Leeds. To help get people thinking about the place in which they live, historical facts and reminiscences will be displayed in local shops.

Anne-Marie wants people to think about the buildings around them and find out the history of the places we all think we know so well. If you can remember when the Aviator was a cinema, paint a picture of what it used to be like and the films you went to see there.

If Hall Park is where you meet up with your friends draw or paint a picture of that. It could even be your own home. Anywhere that is special to you. The finished artworks will be displayed locally and will be used to make a projection artwork as part of Light Night 07 in Leeds City Centre.

"It will give the community of Aireborough a chance to show off our part of Leeds to the rest of the city. I have had a positive response to the letters I have sent to local schools and I want to encourage all other local groups, centres and families to join in." says Anna-Marie.

So when you have a day out over the summer holidays why not take some paper and crayons/pencils and draw. Also Anna-Marie is holding a drawing session on Saturday 4 August 2007 outside Yeadon Town Hall, so you can come and find out more about the project, then.

All work needs to be 2D and A4 in size. On the back you need to write your name and the place you have drawn and why you chose it. The local Libraries of Horsforth, Rawdon, Yeadon and Guiseley have kindly agreed to be collection point for the project. Closing date for entries is Saturday 15 September 2007.

For further information please contact any of the local libraries mentioned or e-mail:
