| About Garforth Villa | Garforth Villa has been established since 1970 and now runs over 20 teams in many different leagues. The club caters for over 300 boys and girls starting from the age of four and staying with the club until they leave to play open age football at 16. All the teams are coached by qualified FA coaches and the club now holds the prestigious Charter Standard in football development awarded by the FA. |
The team had wins at Rothwell Juniors (2 July), Rothwell Town (16 July) and their home gala (24 June). The boys were also runners-up at Gildersome (18 June), conceding just three goals in 18 games and collecting a trophy at every gala they attended. Most of the team have been training together since the age of five and all have achieved great success this season, with many of the boys now being coached by major clubs, such as Leeds United and Manchester United, emphasising the high standards within the team. Goalie Luke has been signed to play for Huddersfield Town on a one-year contract. Manager and coach Bryn McMillan says: "The boys have shown tremendous team spirit this season and have proven their commitment and consistency on the pitch with these terrific wins. "We have played against some fantastic and very skilled teams, but the lads stuck together, showed determination, and I am really proud of them all. We are looking forward to another successful league season as Garforth Villa Under 9s."
