TCFC U12s Girls 4-1 Myerscough Girls U12s

What a start to the season! After last week's superb opening victory against Agsa, TCFC then faced another tough game against Myerscough - a team that TCFC had failed to beat in six previous meetings.

The weather was not good. A strong wind was to give each team an advantage for one half of the match. Myerscough played with the wind in the first half - both teams were working hard and it was a fairly even game for the first ten minutes.

Myerscough took the lead after a run down the left of the field continuing into the box and was finished inside the near post. It was a goal that should have been prevented. The goal seemed to spur TCFC on...just five minutes later Saffy had TCFC's best chance of the half after being put through by Sophie, she fired a shot that came back off the left hand upright. TCFC did well to restrict Myerscough to the one goal in the first half. Sammy S in goal made some good saves, Lauren C, Danielle J and Megan E were again strong at the back, Lauren really starting to shine.

The second half started and with the wind behind them TCFC were on the front foot. The equalizer came after just five minutes. The ball played over the top by Danielle for Saffy, it looked as though the Myerscough defence would clear the ball, but the defender failed to and the keeper didn't seem to know what to do. Saffy slipped in between the pair of them and tapped the ball home - a gift!

The TCFC midfield of Hannah G, Laura I, Rebecca W and Sophie K were superb, they won the battle in midfield and dominated the second half. Rebecca making only her second appearance for the team didn't miss a tackle all game. TCFC went in front with another great finish from Saffy Q after Hannah had won the ball and put her through. Then a fabulous goal, Sophie K won the ball back for TCFC on the left, passed to Saffy who was challenged on the halfway line yet managed to find Hannah. She turned and ran down the centre with the Myerscough defenders in her trailing in her wake and as she approached the Myerscough keeper, calmly slotted the ball home. A great goal.

The final goal belonged to Saffy after chasing a ball towards the dead ball line, right of the Myerscough goal, she turned and beat the Myerscough keeper on her near post to make it 4 - 1 on the day. Stephanie S came on again for her second appearance for the last five minutes and did well. Saffy won the MOM award for another fine hatrick, but Lauren, Hannah, Sophie and Rebecca were all contenders, and it was a fantastic team performance than won the day!
