'It was fate', Rob insists. 'I was meant to come to the TT five years before but at that time, I was lying in hospital, recovering from a road accident. Also at that time, sadly, Linda was nursing her husband who was dying of cancer. 'We were meant to meet on that day five years ago,' Linda insists.

Rob, originally a marine engineer, had been working in a factory in Holland but gave up the job and his house to start work with Linda at her florists in Ramsey. 'Imagine what the customers think when they walk into the florists and Rob comes out from the back of the shop,' Linda jokes. 'It's certainly not what they expect!'

Linda is part of the Moddey Dhoo motorcycling club and Rob is a member of Black Bush. The couple had a real bikers' wedding, with 150 guests arriving from Holland.

Linda: two first place wins at Laxey Day

As a wedding gift, Rob bought Linda a 1979 Harley Davidson Shufflehead but had it re-conditioned by a friend in Holland and made into a trike. Rob jokes that he didn't trust Linda to ride a two-wheeled bike.

Rob rides a 2007 Fat Boy Harley Davidson. 'It's going better than my last bike, ' Rob admits. 'The last one was too heavy for the corners on the island's roads.'

Linda's Shufflehead won two places in the 2008 Laxey Day competitions: Best Bike Engineering and Best Bike ridden by a Lady Rider. 'It's my baby,' is how Linda proudly describes her Harley. 'Now the children have grown up, this is my baby.'
