A Word to the Wise is Sufficient

Hello, I’m Dónall.  This is my website.  Listen to me.  Listen to my voice.  I have a problem.  You have a problem.  We all have a problem.  My country has a problem.  Your country has a problem.  Every country has a problem.  Every country in the world has a problem.  That is why I am broadcasting to you tonight.

I am a scientist.  I am interested in the world.  I am interested in the affairs of the world; I am interested in environmental matters.  I am looking for knowledge and I am looking for debate.  I believe the world is changing.  Things are not right with the planet.  Things are changing. Things are happening which shouldn’t be happening.  The weather is upside down.  Scientists and journalists have been talking about global warming for a long time.

Look out the window and tell me what you see.  Is it cold? Is it hot?  Is it raining?  Has the rain stopped? Is the wind blowing?  Is the sun to be seen?  Are there clouds?  Is there a storm?  How is the weather where you are?

Things are not good here on earth.  There is something wrong with the weather.  It is warm here today but it shouldn’t be warm; it should be cold. The sun is in the sky.  It shouldn’t be.  It should be dark; there should be rain.  It usually rains here at this time of year.  There is heavy rain this time of year.

But there is no rain today.  And there was no rain yesterday.  And there was no rain the day before yesterday, or the day before the day before yesterday.  We haven’t had rain for a long, long time.  It is dry today.  It was dry yesterday and the day before yesterday and the day before the day before yesterday.  It has been dry for a long, long time.  Today is dry, bright and sunny and yesterday was dry, bright and sunny and the day before that and the day before that again were dry, bright and sunny.

No-one is complaining about the weather.  The opposite is true.  Everybody likes the good weather.  People are sunbathing.  People are lying sunbathing.  They are worshipping the sun.  They are enjoying the sun. They have thrown off their clothes.  Men, women and children are playing in the sun.  It’s a delightful scene. Everyone likes the sun.  Everyone likes the bright light.  Everyone likes it to be dry, bright and sunny.

But … it should be cold and wet.  Drops of rain should be falling down on us.  Heavy drops of rain should be falling down on the streets, on the cars, on the loughs, on the trees, on the people.  But no rain is falling.  No heavy drops of rain are falling at all.  The rain has stopped.  Today is bright, dry and sunny.  And that’s all I have for today.  He! Goodbye!
