North WestYou are in: Inside Out > North West > Jacey Normand Jacey NormandHello! I'm Jacey Normand and since joining Inside Out as a reporter I've been trawling the North West for the stories at the heart of our region. ![]() Jacey Normand - Inside Out North West. I like the glamour of interviewing celebrities but I'm most at home door stepping con men, going undercover, even facing up to my worst fears. During the spring 2008 series I had to deal with snakes and spiders out in the Badlands of Montana on a mission to uncover the world's first ever T Rex footprint. I was born and bred in the North West, growing up in north Manchester before going on to study Politics at the University of Liverpool. At the age of 18 everyone thought I was mad when I announced I was taking myself off to Westminster to work for an MP. It was the best thing that ever happened to me because it gave me a taste for news and current affairs and helped me land a job in the US House of Representatives, where I even got to natter with Bill Clinton at his last ever Presidential picnic! I've been an on screen reporter for the last five years and it's been exciting, sometimes heart warming and sometimes shocking because you never know what story you'll be chasing next or who you could meet. New challengesWhen I first started working in television I was advised to accept every challenge thrown my way. ![]() Out on the town celebrating an award. "Yes, I'll do it" is now my usual response to all of my assignments. It's a mantra that's led to many sleepless nights as I anticipate the extraordinary challenges that'll be heading my way. Inside Out North West has sent me off to grapple with training as a stunt woman, tackling heights, running into burning buildings, even 5 am pick ups resulting in high speed lifeboat rides on the Irish Sea to experience the work of rescue squads. A lot of people think presenters just talk to camera but as a journalist, I'm heavily involved in everything on our show, from coming up with ideas to writing scripts even turning my hand to producing when ever it's required. This series you can expect to see me travelling the region and beyond to bring you a variety of stories all of which I know will surprise you. I won't give away too many details but let's just say we've kept up the pace and I know you won't be disappointed. Your stories...I'm also keen to hear your story ideas so if you have something to send in, why not email the team at insideout@bbc.co.uk last updated: 05/01/2009 at 16:40 SEE ALSOYou are in: Inside Out > North West > Jacey Normand |
