A taste of India

Find out more about Indian culture and cookery at the BBC Open Centre.

On Friday 21st September the BBC Open Centre in Hull hosted two workshops on Indian culture.

Experts Rama Banerjee, Mrs Bapthia and Mrs Basu were on hand to explain the traditions behind south Asian food, religion, art, music and dance.

Looking at Hindu Gods, Indian Festivals, traditional costume and national dress, Mrs Basu's workshop included a special session on festival and wedding costumes and make up for pupils at Victoria Dock primary school in Hull.

"The children enjoyed it and so did I." said Mrs Basu. "They really liked the costumes and make-up."
