Round the world with an odd shaped ball

John Price talks to Emily Rabie
John Price popped into the BBC Open Centre to tell us how he came to leave the sun drenched beaches of Australia far behind and fell in love with Hull's sporting heritage.

John Price left the good weather, the wide open spaces and his beloved Australia far behind when he moved half way round the world to work as a Chief Flight Attendant in England.

Whilst John was hard at work in London, his son Justin had already left Australia for France to work as a Rugby League Coach with the French team Toulouse.

Toulouse's success raised Justin’s profile as a First Team Coach and it wasn’t long before Justin was receiving offers to coach in England.

Hull Kingston Rovers won the race for Justin’s signature and he left France for England and a new team in Hull.

Meanwhile John was finding life in the city very expensive and, when Justin moved to Hull to pursue his coaching career, John saw this as a perfect opportunity to be near his son and left the bright lights of London for Hull.

Now, when John is not working he takes time out to watch Justin’s team Hull Kingston Rovers as often as he can.

He is so proud of his son’s achievements especially leading them into Super League for the 2007 season.

A die hard sports fan, when John isn’t watching Hull Kingston Rovers he can be found at the KC Stadium watching either Hull FC or Hull City, showing his support to our 3 local sporting teams.

And of course, John will be making the trip to Cardiff in May when the bank holiday fixtures of Super league will be staged at the Millennium Stadium.

John is really enjoying his time in Hull and hopes to remain here for the near future but the pull of the sun, the sand, and the beaches is strong and he will never rule out a return home back to his native Australia.
