The scheme is being piloted in parts of the Bridlington South ward and will run until March 2008. It has been funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Home Office's Safer and Stronger Communities Fund (SSCF). | | Keeping the streets safe |
Project manager Nigel Brignall said: "This is a very exciting project which will assist in making Bridlington an even better place to be. "The wardens are there to support local people and visitors to the area, ensuring that they feel safe and are able to access the many facilities in the town." Wearing distinctive red uniforms, the wardens also respond to minor incidents of anti-social behaviour and neighbour disputes, however they do not have the same powers as the police. Based at the Bridlington Community Resource Centre, the wardens are on patrol from 8.15am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 10.30am to 6.30pm on a Saturday and from 10.30am to 6pm on Sundays. The wardens can be contacted by telephone: 01262 403010, fax: 01262 401616 or email: brid.wardens@eastriding.gov.uk. |
