John Hurt received his Honorary Doctor of Letters Degree at the University of Hull on Thursday 26th January. Before becoming a renowned actor, John Hurt lived and studied at Grimsby Art School. He has appeared in a host of films such as King Ralf, The Naked Civil Servant, The Elephant Man, Midnight Express, Lost Souls and Captain Corelli's Mandolin. The actor has won numerous awards including a BAFTA Film Award, Golden Globe and an International Film Fantasy Award for his many film performances.
