I am the adopted daughter of Denis Whelan, Denis was attached to Bletchley Park during WWII, but like many families, we didn't know much about his work there until he was released from the Official Secrets act, and even then, much of it wasn't deemed worth discussing.
However, following my Father's death in 2000, I contact 'The Park' and was lucky enough to discover that (as I suspected), Dad hadn't let his part in the project dissapear completly unnoticed. I have posted a message of his involvement - Denis Whelan - his association with Bletchley Park. He was, in essence, one of the first ever 'Helpdesk' engineers.
Curiously, in 2000, shortly after my Father's death, my partner David Pavey took up a position as an IT consultant with the Foreign Office - a modern day version of what my Father was doing during the war, and we now live a stones throw from 'The Park'........
