I live in West Wales. I have grown up fascinated by the stories of my family - a family at war. The family then lived in Kent (Doodle bug alley).

My father was in the police force. My mother (some 25+ years younger than dad, they didn't meet up until 1959) was still at school.

All the uncles were in uniform. two in the army, two in the navy and one in the RAF (I think that is a fairly comprehensive war family!). One of my uncles is black (he and my mothers sister were married in 1944), so I have been very interested in the stories of black British soliders.

The aunts were involved too. One aunt worked in the foreign office and was a member of the WRVS, the other worked in the Woolwich Arsenal and later for the NAAFI.

My grandfather was head of the local ARP, and my grandmother simply tried to feed and look after everyone.

I would dearly love to write a book about the families wartime experiences.
