My contribution starts as a schoolboy at the outset of war and then moves onto being called up for basic training at Canterbury Barracks on the 1st June 1944. Following this was deployment with the East Surrey Regiment. The unit was then posted to Belguim and Holland and I was transfered to the Royal Welch Fusiliers in Jan 1945. My account then moves on to fighting at Wesse in Germany were I was wounded in action. It then follows my return to hospital in England, recovery and how I ended the war guarding POW's in Rugeley, Staffordshire.
