My name is Linda and I just joined the WW2 site by submitting my Dad's account of his war experiences.

Dad was a prisoner-of-war for most of the duration. He eventually escaped and then endured further harrowing times travelling across Russia.

He spoke little of his wartime experiences through my childhood, but in the 1980s, aware of his grandchildren's lack of knowledge about the war, (and because I nagged him) he wrote a summarized account of his experiences. Dad died in 1996. I have kept his account safe, and I'm grateful, now, for an opportunity to share it with others.
