The story 'My Grandfather - Family Man and Soldier' attempts to bring out what I found out about my grandfather through some of his effects, kept by my mother for 60 years.

In these letters and papers, he developes from a young skilled soldier fighting in colonial hotspots to a settled family man at the outset of WW2 before becoming the first soldier to come from Shrewsbury to lose his life.
