My name is Jeanette Wakeford (nee Arlett) and I was at HMS King Alfred from 1943-1945, then at HMS Mercury until January 1946. I was a Wren Writer and it would be good to hear news of anyone who was at either of these shore establishments during that time. At the start of the war I was living with my parents in Guildford, and worked in the office of a firm that made dinghies and parachutes. Now I am retired, but have many interests which include letter-writing, church activities, and playing the piano at the local Play Group for the children to learn nursery rhymes! I also like to knit and enjoy cooking.
