My name is David W. Calvert and I was born in Thirsk, Yorkshire in 1941. My earliest memories of the war were of two German POWs who used to visit my home every Sunday. And they never came empty handed. They would always bring me toys made out of wood salvaged from fruit and vegetable crates. The POW camp was just outside Thirsk. I had a cousin called John Calvert who came from Kirby Hill. He was in Lancasters and just one of many who did not return. I believe that he was listed as being 'Missing in Action'sometime around 1942. I would be very grateful if someone could direct me to a website where I can obtain information on RAF MIAs from WWII. My email address is: dwcal@netvigator.com
