These letters were written by my 13 year old father to his parents in London, mostly during the phoney war, when he was staying with aunts in Oxford and Kidderminster; and a few letters from the other people in the story. They deal with his day to day life, cricket, food, bombers and Lord Haw Haw, amongst other things.

After the Battle of Britain, (and just in time for the Blitz) they decided that they would all be better together, with my father going to his proper school in Ilford.

If you would like contemporary photographs of John and his family, together with his sketch maps of Swinford and Kidderminster, please e-mail me at: evacuee@greebot.co.uk
