Colliery Payslip, 'number 8 was the number we marked on every tub of coal my mate and I filled.'
Mr. Willoughby worked at Goldthorpe Colliery during World War Two, and the picture shows one of his payslips for May 1945. "The government gave us two shifts off work and paid us £1 per shift. The colliery owners also gave us a shift off which was paid at the flat rate of sixteen shillings and ten pence, 85p today."
