Clifford Margerison, Army Number 14969691 was stationed at Harperley Camp near Crook, County Durham and was on the staff of 93 P.O.W. Camp for over 2 years. The camp was constructed in 1943 and the first prisoners of war were Italian and arrived whilst the camp was still under construction. German prisoners of war occupied the camp in 1944. The camp was finally closed in 1948.
On his discharge, on March 15, 1948, his testimonial stated that he was always a reliable N.C.O. and was honest, sober and trustworthy.
