Picture 12

Another picture on Peter’s birthday in 1941. The background shows an adjoining barn and we are seated on a stone pond just inside camp perimeter. Clothes all seem to have been salvaged from pre-war days. In spite of my mother’s composed appearance, these were hard times and for her particularly distressing — interned with three children and no prospect of release. Nevertheless Red Cross parcels kept us reasonably happy every three months or so, but Peter contracted TB and my mother scarlet fever.
