I was born in 1938 and started All Souls school in 42, when most of my memories start.I remember starting school, with my gasmask slung over my shoulder by a bit of string, and my hand held firmly by my elder sister. There was little or no traffic.
Our school had an underground concrete bomb shelter, great fun. I don't remember being frightened by the bombs, we didn't seem to connect them with something that could kill you.
