my grandfather was in albania in '41 when him and 3 friends came under heavy machine-gun fire 1 was shot in the stomach and died immediatley they were pinned down at the end of the street taking cover under a car this carried on for 4 hours when the machine gun post stopped firing in this 3 miniute window when they were re-loading him and his 1 remaining friend took the machine gun post and held out for 2 hours till the nearest panzer arrived
