Yesterday afternoon watch VE day celebrations the memories of the my mother in law plight was very much in my memories.

Patrica married Frederick John and they had a baby together named Jill and sadly Frederick was killed in action and is buried in Salerno War Cementary and to this day Patrica has not been able to visit the grave one for bringing a family up and the other she is too frail to travel.

Frederick John Lewis was only 28 when he was killed on 3.10.1943 he was hit directly with a shell and only his boots remained nothing else was found, it is ironic that his brother was at his side and his brother survived this incident.

Patrica has never forgotton her first love and still have vivid dreams of the man she called john and the dream if that a man is walking down a street of terraced houses and go into one and leave the door open.

This has always worried Patrica but we her family always say that John is waiting for you and has kept this door open for you.

Whenever my mother in law is ill or unwell this dream occurs but this is to say how much see is still in love with this man and talks about him all the time.

As her Daughter in Law I find this very touching that after 62 years she can still remember what he looked like.

All I know that when mum passes away that she will be reunited with this man who is still around her and still in love with her.

Rest in peace John Frederick Lewis.
