Age at time of story - 5 years.
Auntie Ruth came down from Plymouth after the war to give us a "lovely surprise - banana's"! She handed me this attractive bright yellow fruit to eat. I was shouted at because I tried to eat the whole fruit - skin and all. I was told to peel it. I did not know how to peel a banana so my Auntie peeled it for me and handed back this small white "thing". I put a piece in my mouth and yuk! It was dry and juiceless - I hated it! I refused to eat the rest and have never eaten a banana since.
