My dad was an air raid warden
Back in World War Two
The Government sent him a gas mask
and a whistle, which he blew

He had some dark blue overalls
A nice black tin hat too
But don't forget the whistle
The whistle that he blew

He brought us safely through the blitz
When shell and shrapnel flew
With the help of his trusty whistle
The whistle that he blew

Houses bombed, people hurt
But they knew what to do
A gallant pair my dear old dad
and his whistle which he blew

The black tin hat has long since gone
The dark blue overalls too
But, the one thing that my dad did keep
was his whistle, which he blew.
