Both my Parents are now deceased, but i clearly remember them telling me about their time during the 2nd World War.
My mother was Marjorie Cis Durtnall, Her brother Petr and sister Peggy all worked at EMI records. Mum said the factory went over to War work (What sort ??) and they travelled from Hammersmith to the Factory and home. Her Father William Henry Marke Durtnall was in the home Guard. Her Uncle William Peever had worked at Schweppes and was a Night watcher at the factory looking for planes coming over.
My Father William Edwin Hanchard was an Electrician, and in a reserved occupation. He volunteered 4 times to the EAF before he was finally accepted. No sooner had he been accepted VE Day occurred and he was stood down. He later worked at Heston Airport befor he met my mother and they married at Hayes in 1950.
David Hanchard.
