We went up to London to see a show when hubbie was on leave. We got on the Greenline and we got on the bus at Algate to come home. Then the bombs started dropping. This was the start of the blitz. We had to stay all night on the bus on the top deck and when we got back to Grays, the next morning we found out that Grays Station had been bombed.
