Christmas eve 1942. We had reletives over from Stoke On Trent. I was four years old at the time and used to being brought downstairs when the air raid sirens sounded. My father heard the sound of a doodle bug and opend the front door.I squeezed between him and my uncle to get a look and saw a flame in the sky.The flame went out and dad rushed to open the back door to let the blast through the house. There was a loud explosion which blew soot down our chimney and coverd my cousin who was sat on a fender stool. I thought it was great. The next day we went to the field where the bug had landed and my relitives went back to Stoke.
