I was a housewife during the war. I worked in asbestos. Towards the end of the war I had a family. My husband was discharged when in Ireland. We managed the rations ok and we grew veg in the garden. When a bomb dropped in Purfleet Road it shook the house and we also saw the tanks bombed.
