Newry all-Service Wedding in England, Hanna-Bittles, Tue 14 March 1944
My Mum and Dad, from Newry, N Ireland, had a forces wedding on Tuesday 14 March 1944 in St Mary's Church of Everton cum Tetworth in the Counties of Beds and Hunts. Dad was a gunner in the Royal Artillery and had recently returned from British North Africa, after six years service, during which he served with the Eighth Army. Mum had, at this stage, served three years in the WAAF. They were both in uniform and had a guard of honour of WAAF's. Afterwards they had a reception at the home of a Mrs Gurney who was a friend of Mums.
I am attaching a photograph of the wedding party and a clip from the "Biggleswade Chronicle and Bedfordshire Gazette"
