My Mum - a corporal in the WAAF (enlisted 21 October 1941) married my Dad, a Gunner in the Royal Horse Artillary, in St Mary's Church, Everton cum Tetworth. It was Tuesday 27 March 1944.
Dad had just returned from British North Africa, after six years service, during which he served with the Eighth Army and Mum had three years service as a Nursing Orderly.
The Vicar was Rev F C Hamlyn and RAF Padre Bruce officiated, assisted by Cpl Turner. L/A/C Turner presided at the organ for the hymn "O Perfect Love".
Mum and Dad were both in uniform. Mum was given away by her friend Cpl Green RAF and Dad's sister Cpl Ann Hanna WAAF was the bridesmaid. Cpl Leslie Clark, RAF was best man. The reception was held at the home of a Mrs Gurney who was a friend of Mums
