Voices from the past
I have vivid memories of helping the HOME FRONT to equip the personnel on board H M S BARHAM. The girls of class 7 at Tenbury Primary School knitted balaclava helmets, gloves, seaboot stockings and nightshirts.
My job was to turn the heels of the stockings, finish the band round the neck edge and insert the gusset in the lower side seams of the shirts and fix the collars.
I was presented with a certificate by the Over Seas League for helping to provide comforts to the Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen which I enclose herewith

I understand that the Battle ship named H M S Barham sank with All hands.
