Harrow Council is holding an event on 26 June 2005 to commemorate the end of World War II.
We would love people from Harrow, who lived, worked, went to school or were evacuated from here to share their memories with us and the local community.
The event will commence with a grand parade from the town centre to Harrow's Civic Centre. Here a dedication service (by the Bishop of Willesden) will be held for a new war memorial. We are pleased that a member of the royal family will be attending the event. Following this, the Civic Centre will host a 1940s tea dance and local history exhibition. There will be a Vera Lynn singer, school history exhibitions, vintage vehiciles, a local archives collection, British Legion and SSAFA stalls.
We invite anyone with memories to share to come along to the event, or if you have stories and photos to share with us in the exhibition, that would be even better.
Please send me an email if you are interested or can help, or call me on 020 8424 1295.
Best wishes
Claire McGill
