Letter from Jessie Bishop, College Bounds, Aberdeen, to her father, Leading Aircraftsman Bishop, Royal Air Force, Egypt:
Dear Daddy,
I received your letter and I don't think you had such a good time as me and Mummy at Christmas, had you? Tomorrow, which will be Tuesday, we are getting the morning off school because Douglas Clark and Aleck Campbell are trying a big examination. As you know Daddy, I have six school books and that is a big difference from two besides my schoolbag is quite fat. I am very angry with you for writing such a short letter. I think you have plenty of time for a bigger one. Have you been wondering how I am getting on at school? Well I think I am getting on okay. The teacher is going to give us places when she knows what kind of scholars we are. Well Daddy I think I will stop now.
Cheerio, your loving daughter, Jessie
