Although Norman was born on Xmas day 1929 in Moston,Manchester the family moved to Pickmere - soon moving to Gawsworth where
'Will' Buckley started a Poultry Farm.
The torpedoing by U-Boats sank so much shipping in the Atlantic Ocean costing lives, supplies, foods. The shortage of 'Indian Corn'(maize), used as poultry feed was unobtainable so that poultry was slaughtered and used as human food.
The Poultry Farm had to be sold and the family moved from Gawsworth to Bury, Lancashire.
