War Time School Days at Stubbington, Hampshire

I remember when I was about 8 years of age, going to the Junior School at Stubbington in Hampshire. I would be hurried across the playground with all the other children into the air raid shelters at the sound of the air raid sirens. Like all the other children stopping at the entrance, much to the annoyance of the teachers, in the hope of seeing our fighter planes going into a ‘Dog Fight’ with the German fighters who would be protecting their bombers on their way to bomb the Portsmouth docks.
