I was 5 years old when I was evacuated to Botly near Oxford. My Dad was an ambulance driver and my Mum was a post lady, we lived in Peckham South London.
I can remember getting on the train wearing a red pixie hat and carrying a bundle of comics tucked safely under my arm. When I arrived at Botly a lady took myself and other children from door to door to find people who would take us in (I've never forgotten how that felt). I did not return home to London until the war ended.
