I was nursing at Lewisham General Hospital from 1942 - 1946, though two years out of this were spent at the Southern Hospital, Dartford, as patients were evacuated there to be out of some danger. However the V.1 "doodle bugs" came over whilst we were there, fortunately the Southern was not hit. The pharmacy at Lewisham Hospital was hit but no one was injured.

The worst happening that I experienced was the bombing of Catford School. We had many casualties brought in. The most awful being the appauling injuries suffered by an 11 year old little girl. She had just passed the 11 plus exam and was due to go to Grammer school. She lost both legs at the knee.
