I just thought I would tell you about my mother and her experience during the war.

My mum is still alive and is now 78 years old. She was born in 1925. During the war the us airforce had a strong presence in Suffolk. My mum was a young girl around 17 years old. She of course worked in the munitions factory in Leiston a small suffolk town. Saturday evening was dance night and I guess one one of these occasions she met and fell in love with the local American base comander David Crammer (now deceased). This was a true love story which continued during the war. I remember telling me that at one officers ball at the base she was introduced and danced with the then general Eistenhauer (sorry the spelling is wrong). He called her the English rose. Later of course he went on to become the President of the USA. The love lasted althought my mother would not go back with him to the USA being to afraid. However she remained in contact with David although his live and met him again years later in the 90's.

She actually married my father in 1946 , he was a japanesse prisoner of war. There marriage lasted until he died in 1980.

If you want to knbow more then I will tell you.
