Washing Day in Algeria, 1943
My Father was a Corporal in the Medical Section of the R.A.F. and was posted to Algiers after the landings in North Africa. He was located at 'Mason Blanc' and attended to Harold McMillan and his party after their aircraft crashed on take off at the airfield there. He was Mentioned in Dispatches whils there but I am unable to find out the circumstances. All he would say was that he bandaged the finger of the Chief of Staff. He went on to serve in Sicily, Corsica and Italy. Any information about activities in this area of North Africa would be appreciated.
