The 'V FOR VICTORY' bag.
My early childhood was spent in Eltham, south-east London. My father was an Army officer who later served in Burma.
In 1942, aged 3, I was given a little bag which had, printed in red, the V for Victory sign and the morse code symbol of three dots and a dash that I remember hearing on the radio.
I was very proud of this bag, and in retrospect I guess it lifted the spirits of many to see this early example of merchandising enterprise.
